New work of SOFA West in Santa Fe

SOFA West opens in Santa Fe July 7! I will have new work there with Sherrie Gallerie, and here are three pieces Sherrie will have available. These are representative of the dozen small works of mine Sherrie is showing. Two larger pieces that are for the wall will also be shown.

This monkey teapot is a "Janus" piece with a monkey with a different expression on the other side.

New small works in Philladelphia at NCECA

Exhibiting

Sherrie Gallerie, Columbus, Ohio will be showing a selection of my new work at NCECA. Please check it out if you are in Philadelphia. I have been making animal pots, mostly handbuilt. Here are two recent cups that will be in Philly. Entirely handbuilt and fired to c5 oxidation.
Fulbright Award!

I received notice a few days ago that I have been awarded a Fulbright to Ireland for 2011. I will be at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin from January through March. I will teach a small group of graduate students and create a body of work.

I will be returning to the International Ceramics Studio (ICS) in Kecskemet, Hungary this June. I have organized a small studio symposium of collegial friends who will work together for 2 weeks. Joining me will be Anna Holcombe, Elaine Henry, James Lawton, JoAnn Schnable, Marc Leuthold, Susan Filley, Steve Howell, Michel Conroy and Billy Mayer.

new teapot

Here is a teapot I made on commission just before Christmas. It is 16" long, c/5 oxidation stoneware, all handbuilt except for the "filler pot" on the rump. Pours nicely. I have been making small works since the Fall. I will be showing at Art of the Pot in Austin, Texas in May, so most of this work will be there.

I'll be a visiting artist at Anderson Ranch Art Center ( http://www.andersonranch.org/workshops/index.php?page=workshops-overview ) in Snowmass, CO January 15-18, 2010 during the January Studio Intensive. Over the course of the intensive period, two to three visiting artists will be available for studio visits. These artists, who are well known and respected in their fields, add a valuable element of critical insight into an individual's work.
Artists Joe Bova, Hung Liu and Rebeca Mendez will conduct studio visits during the 2010 intensive. Previous visiting artists/critics include Judy Pfaff, Stephan Westfall, Polly Apfelbaum, Brian Toll, Mala Iqbal and Sanford Biggers.
